A touching and totally appreciated note from Group One’s Mark “Whitey” Handron re his fishing partner, young “Son of Whitey” Liam:
Ron and Kathy:
Let me begin this email of thanks with a quick story.
The morning after Liam and I returned from Extravaganza 2013, I woke up reasonably early - and headed down stairs for my morning brew (of coffee). I heard the T.V. playing in the family room – which was odd as I’m usually the first one up and about. I thought perhaps the kids left if on from the night prior. As I made my way to the family room, playing on the T.V. was... a fishing show. And curled up on the couch, glued to the screen, was “Son-of-Whitey” and his younger brother, Max; AND, “Rods” laid, not-so-neatly, on the family room floor. It was an absolutely delight to see! Montana came home with Liam.
And, I have you both to thank. Ron and Kathy, you are both such gracious and generous hosts. Ron, from the moment we passed through the revolving doors, to the honorary yellow hat, to our good-bye’s Tuesday night, you took great care to ensure Liam felt included and comfortable, at all times. Not an easy task.
Kathy, not only did Liam love your cooking (going back for 2nd and 3rds each time), you welcomed him into your home each night like he was one of yours. I can tell you – it made an impression on him. For this, and so much more, I thank you both.
Hope to see you both in November.
Mark
